As someone who did eCom for many "wholesale-first" brands (aka legacy brands), this is all spot-on.

Sean, great post, thanks for writing. We've been offered a place in a national retailer - any advice on how to make it work? General or specific. We're only in several small independents but this is too good a chance to turn down (they approached us).

Depends on the retailer honestly. Shoot me a dm if you want to chat on it, but my best advice is:

Only do it if you can OWN it.

You have on shot with a retailer.

Dont over extend, dont rush it, dont let your eyes get bigger than your stomach

hi sorry, only just seen this. thanks for the advice, all great and valuable. I'm going to go for it as the doors this opens internationally will be a game changer. The potential downside is there too but if I'm not taking these shots I may as well go back to the 9-5. thanks again
